So I'm down to my last week at work. I have been scrambling to prepare for the PCT, while simultaneously moving back up to the Durham (Chico) area. I got my Droid RAZR Maxx and have enjoyed playing with that. I have installed and played with a number of apps, and have also tested the battery life, whichis excellent. I leave the phone on all day, occasionally texting, downloading an app, or playing chess or words with friends. With all the aerials (or whatever they're called) turned on, as well as 4G, I still have 30% after a 9 hour day. So I should be able to get another three hours, or 12 total, before needing a charge. Then, if I turn off all the extras, I should be able to extend another three hours or so. That makes 15 total. Of course, on the trail I will be turning my phone off for most of the day, so if I can limit my usage to two hours per day that should get me 7 or 8 days between charges. Add to that the charge that i will be carrying in the Motorola P893 charger, which supplies approximately 3/4 of a full charge. That means an additional eight or nine hours (4 days) of use.
I spent the weekend hauling furniture into the Durham house (thanks to Erin and all her hard work). So I don't feel so bad about not exercising regularly yet. I also bought a lot of construction materials, as the house is not finished, and I had a rented truck anyway. When I move up there I will be splitting my time between hiking and working on the house. I also got a cheap laptop from Costco, because the house does not have TV or internet, so I will need to take my computer over to Starbucks to download maps and update blogs. I'm a little overwhelmed, but things seem to be moving along.
Lastly, and to complicate things at the last minute, I got an interview for a decent position on the 6th. I have to head down to Bakersfield to see how that goes, and it may make the difference between hiking the full trail or doing a smaller section hike.
