Valentine's Day turned out to be fairly productive in terms of PCT planning. I had ordered a footprint for my tent, which finally came in. I set it up, using only the tent poles and the rain fly just to see how it looked. It seemed like adequate shelter to me, so I am leaving the rest of the tent at home. After a quick weigh-in, I found that my base weight had dropped by about a pound!
I also made a quick phone call to an old college roommate of mine. Chris woprks at ASICS now, which happens to be my running shoe of choice. I chewed the fat with him a bit and then asked where I might inquire about a sponsorship. He asked me to send him an email, so I did. It was a pretty rough outline of what I was hoping for, but basically I was looking to get some free shoes and gear in exchange for a prominent place for the ASICS logo on my blog, on my backpack, and gear reviews here and over at Postholer.com. Now I just have to wait and see if they feel that a couple hundred dollars is a good investment for the exposure.
